“Chicago Faces” is a guerrilla art piece that photographs the faces of civilians using custom software. A street camera is embedded with a linux machine (Raspberry Pi) that is running a facial recognition algorithm. Once a distinguishably different face is discovered, it is photographed, and automatically uploaded to the twitter account, twitter.com/chicagofaces/media/grid for public view. The project, “Chicago Faces” is a tool for capturing portraits of my local community.
I currently am running one street camera, but I want to build more throughout the diverse neighborhoods of Chicago, maybe other cities.
